SDO San Juan holds Division Learning Action Cell (DLAC) on Maximizing Google Sites for LR Management
The Schools Division Office-San Juan through the Curriculum Implementation Division- Learning Resource Management Section conducted a Division Learning Action Cell for LRMS entitled “ Maximizing Google Sites for Learning Resource Management in Schools” on April 6, 2022 via Google Meet.
The LAC facilitators were Mr. Anthony James H. Vizmanos, PDO II-LRMS and Mr. Jemar Anthony M. Abila, Teacher from San Perfecto Elementary School.
The Division LAC aims to provide an overview of Google Sites as a potential repository of learning resources in schools. Also, it is deemed important for the participants to develop an understanding on the importance and maximization of the utilization of Google Sites for the learners, teachers and stakeholders of the schools. The said DLAC is congruent to the mandates of the Philippine Professional Standards for Teachers (PPST) specifically Domain 4, Curriculum and Planning and strands: 3. Relevance and responsiveness of learning programs; 4. Professional collaboration to enrich teaching practice; and 5. Teaching and learning resources including ICT.
Mr. Anthony James H. Vizmanos discussed the basics of creating a website using Google Sites and provided tips and tricks for the participants to grasps easily the topic. This was followed by the presentation of Mr. Jemar Anthony M. Abila of their school e-Learning Center which he developed as an offshoot of one of the virtual meetings of School LR Coordinators, Librarians and Teachers-Library-in-Charge.
Mr. Vizmanos and Mr. Abila both pointed out to maximize the use of free tools provided to DepEd teachers like the Google Spaces and Canva for Education. Dr. Jonas Feliciano C. Domingo also reiterated that should apply and utilize what they have learned in this kinds of activities in their respective schools. Also, Dr. Domingo also emphasized that the Division LR team will always be of help and would provide sound technical assistance to schools in terms of the implementation of LRMS processes and protocols in the Division through the school counterparts.
It is hoped that from this DLAC, SDO San Juan schools through their LR Coordinators might start developing their own Google Sites for the management of their learning resources.
The participants of the DLAC were the Division LR Team, School LR Coordinators, Librarians and Teachers-Library-in-Charge.
