PCES makes the school Learning Resource Center open to all
Pedro Cruz Elementary School (PCES) strives to provide learners with a comfortable place to stay while reading or when they simply want to unwind after school. For this reason, the Learning Resource Team labored arduously to finally bring forth the Resource Center for what it is today.
The rehabilitation started on the 31st of July, 2023 when the Learning Resource Team (LRC), non-teaching staff, and a few Supreme Pupils’ Government (SPG) officers began the rearranging process by working together to clean, carry, and move the computers, books, and shelves to the second floor, where the new library was set up. Additionally, URLs and QR codes were created and posted. Before the opening of the new library, the walls were repainted, the furniture was rearranged, and new furnishings and accessories were added to provide a welcoming atmosphere and contemporary style for the students to enjoy.
The school opened its library doors to the learners for the first time during the library orientation from September 4 to 15, introducing the new library, its new services, and rules.
“Maganda po ang library. Malinis tsaka kumportable. Minsan pa lang ako nakapunta duon pero babalik po ako para magbasa ng books,” commented Princess Ayiesha B. Sarraga, a Grade 5 learner.
The library is still being improved by the school to better meet the requirements of the students as they learn.
“We envision our School Learning Resource Center to be a dynamic, digitally empowered hub, that fosters continuous learning and offers lifelong support to every learner throughout their educational journey,” Neren G. Frando, the school LRC in-charge, shared during the informal interview.
