GSP PES Heroes Back in Action!
Last February 3, 2023, Pinaglabanan Elementary School (PES) joined the simultaneous Investiture of the Girl Scouts of the Philippines among the nine public schools in the city of San Juan.
The Ceremony was held on the ground floor of the School Multipurpose Hall. It was attended by more than 300 girls from different levels; Twinklers, Star Scouts, and Junior Girl Scouts together with their 26 troop leaders.
One of the highlights of the event was the investiture of the new nine Barangay Committee headed by the investing officer Mrs. Nenita F. Mate from GSP Rizal Council Board Officer in International Affairs who conveyed her warmest greetings at the beginning of the program, together with the PES School Head, Dennis M. Bacle who also gave his opening remarks to the girl scouts. They were also joined by the GSP Coordinator Mrs. Leonita F. Calas as members of the investing officers.
The most significant part of the ceremony was the investiture of the girls. They were pinned according to their levels, from Twinklers, Star Scouts to Junior Girl Scouts. The Investing Officers walked around them and asked the girls to recite their promise and law. After this, parents’ participation was also observed as they put on their caps to complete the event.
Furthermore, Escoda Ceremony was also observed after the investiture in honor of the founder of the Girl Scouts of the Philippines, Josefa Llanes Escoda. The girls took turns as they offered flowers and coins.
The closing remarks were given by one of the hardworking PES Master Teachers, Mrs Jay D.C. Tulaylay. In her speech, she challenged and encouraged the girls to continue and not give up on scouting. The Masters of the ceremony were Ms. Angel Jean B. Calvo, a Grade 3 Araling Panlipunan teacher and Ms. Kimberly D. Sanchez, a Grade 4 Filipino teacher.
The afternoon session was the most awaited part of the GSP activities. There were 35 twinklers who registered in the Day Camp while the Star Scouts had 110 participants. Both levels prepared different parlor games. The Twinklers enjoyed games like Color, Mat, and Balloon Relay while Star Scouts had Basahan, Balloon Relay, Mother Went to Market, and Connect Me. After performing all the activities, winners were given prizes for a job well done.
Afterward, the Junior Girl Scouts had their Overnight Camp in school. There were 120 campers who registered for the event. Troop Leaders prepared nine stations where the girls could participate and enjoy at the same time like Gadgets, Knot Tying, GSP Logo, Flag Folding, Song and Yell, First Aid, Hand Signals, and Tiktok Dance Challenge. In addition, they had a campfire late in the evening where the girls had to form a circle and presented their yell and Tiktok Dance. Early next morning they had Scout’s Own Ceremony with the theme, “Peace and Perseverance”. The girls lighted their candles as they passed the gate of silence. They recited poems and sang songs together. The finale song was “Let There Be Peace on Earth”. Adding to the excitement of the girls, they had physical activities like jogging around the school vicinity, and dance exercises using “Galaw Pilipinas”. Likewise, after completing all the given tasks the Junior Girl Scouts also had their awarding ceremony.
After two years of pandemic, GSP Heroes are back again capturing moments to ignite the fire of scouting.
