SDO San Juan City Conducts an All-In-One Graduation and Moving Up Ceremonies
The SDO San Juan City, in its unprecedented move, has come up with an “All-In-One” Graduation and Moving up Ceremonies last April 01, 2019 at the Filoil Flying V Centre, San Juan City. This school year’s graduation theme – “Pagkakaisa sa Pagkakaiba-iba: Kalidad na Edukasyon Para sa Lahat” underscores the roles of the K to 12 Basic Education Program in developing an educated society where the challenges and benefits of diversity are embraced and welcomed by every San Juaneño.
The scheme of ceremonies adopted in SDO San Juan City captures the One-Day event of the three major educational school cohorts (District I elementary schools, District II elementary schools and Lone Secondary School-SJNHS) held altogether in one place, one date and one goal.
The One-day “All-In-One” event started at 7 o’ clock in the morning with the graduation of Grade 6 pupils from District II composed of Pinaglabanan Elementary School, Sta. Lucia Elementary School, Kabayanan Elementary School and Nicanor Ibuna Elementary School. This was later followed by the graduation rites of District I schools consisting of San Juan Elementary School, San Perfecto Elementary, Salapan Elementary School and Pedro Cruz Elementary School. Completing the day’s event is the Graduation and Moving up Ceremonies of Grade 12 Senior High School students and Grade 10 students of San Juan National High School, respectively.
The day was, indeed, a celebration of unity through diversity as the DepEd SDO San Juan officials, led by Dr. Alejandro G. Ibañez, OIC-SDS, LGU officials, school officials, NGO representatives, GPTA officers, parents, graduating/moving up learners and other stakeholders converge in one setting to celebrate success in the realm of education. “This activity has proven the unity of the people of San Juan City when it comes to the welfare and education of the San Juaneños. Indeed, every stakeholder has social responsibility when it comes to education”, Dr. Ibañez said in an interview.
The scintillating part of the activity was when an Audio-Visual Presentation (AVP) was played with the intention of expressing SDO’s heartfelt gratefulness to the beloved Mayor of the City, Madam Guia G. Gomez, for her 360° Investment to the cause of inclusive education during her term as Mayor. In fact, all expenses related to this year’s graduation/moving up ceremonies were sponsored by the LGU.
According to Dr. Helen G. Padilla, Chief of the Curriculum Implementation Division (CID), there is a total of 1,188 graduating pupils in the elementary schools in both Districts I and II. On the other hand, 339 Senior High School students received their diploma while 648 Junior High School were handed their certificate of completion constituting a total of 987 students in the secondary level.
Moreover, the “All-In-One” separate ceremonies saw influxes of a number of pupils/students who received awards consistent with the guidelines in DO 36, s. 2016 entitled “Policy Guidelines on Awards and Recognition for the K to 12 Basic Education Program”.
The SDO San Juan City End of School Year (EOSY) rites were carried out consistent with the provisions of DepEd Memorandum No. 25, S. 2019 and DepEd Order No. 2, S. 21019 stipulating therein that ceremonies be conducted in a solemn ceremony befitting the learners, their parents, with other education stakeholders.
Graduation and Moving Up Ceremonies, according to Secretary Leonor M. Briones, are indeed a joyous celebration, and not only because it culminates another year of learning and discovery, perseverance, and passionate work among our learners. It also caps off another year of successful collaboration among parents, teachers, education officials and personnel, community members, partners, and stakeholders of diverse roots, cultures, and traditions.
From SDO San Juan City, congratulations Graduates and Completers!
