Seminar-Workshop on Quality Assurance of Learning Materials for Learning Resources Management and De
The Curriculum Implementation Division – Learning Resources Management and Development System(LRMDS) conducted a Seminar–Workshop on Quality Assurance of Learning Materials on December 19, 2016 from 8:00 am-5:00 pm at the Schools Division Office Conference Hall, San Juan City. The activity aims to improve understanding and competencies in the use of LRMDS and associated quality assurance processes, engage in quality assuring process of development learning materials; and teachers manual; and publish and upload quality assured materials in the LR portal.
School Heads, LRMDS Focal Person, Teacher Librarians, ICT coordinators, and 2 master teachers with knowledge on Instructional Materials Development participated in the said activity. The seminar workshop also aims to cascades the topics on the seminar at Armin, Batis, Quezon last November 23-25, 2016.
The seminar started at 8:30 am with the singing of the National Anthem and a prayer for the Lord. It was followed by the CID Chief, Mr. Virgilio A. Santos who gave the welcoming remarks.
An inspirational message was delivered by our beloved OIC-SDS, Dr. Joel T. Torrecampo. He put stress the responsibilities and nature of this LRMDS office since this is new to everyone. He also mentioned that the LR team were doing their very best such as attending seminars and trainings to expand their knowledge and understanding pertaining to this system. His message indeed served as an encouragement and motivation to LRMDS Division team to continue to pursue success and quality performance.
Mrs. Vilma T. Padilla talked about revisiting the LRMDS for the program proper. She started first on preparing an activity for the participants, asking them to write on the manila paper what they know, need to know and their commitments. The participants per school presented their output. Afterwards, she congratulated all the participants who presented their output successfully. Mrs. Padilla proceeded with her lecture on LRMDS as a mechanism tool; to support coordinated and integrated access to quality resources by DepEd Regions, Divisions and Cluster/School levels. It provides information about the location of resources. It is responsive to identify school learning and teaching resource needs and supports Divisions via the Regional offices to fulfil these needs.
The LRMDS office is aligned to the office of the Curriculum Implementation Division whereas it is also aligned with the Bureau of Learning Resources in the Central Office and in the Bureau of Curriculum Development.
The LRMDS unit in the region has their own team same with the Division office, down to the school level. We also need other task in the LR unit like illustrator/graphic artist or layout artist. She also added that who knows someday one of you will become a famous writer or an illustrator and graphic artist in the future. The LRMDS is managed and maintained at all levels in accordance with the requirements of DepEd Central Office for distribution and access to resources.
The next lecturer was Mr. Cristopher Cabradilla who discussed the Developing and Contextualizing Learning Materials followed by Workshop in the afternoon, then presentation of outputs.
Miss Susan Lagat was the third speaker and she talked about the Quality Assurance Process of Developed Learning Materials and Teachers Manuals then Workshops.
Mr. Michael P. Rull’s report was cut due to lack of time allotment but will be continued to for the following seminar schedule. The Background on Publishing and Uploading of Quality Assured materials in the LR portals of the teachers will be tackled on the next seminar together with the distribution of certificates of the attendees.
The seminar workshop was indeed a success through the collaborative efforts of the LRMDS Division team and the participants.
