Nutrition Month: “First 1000 Days Ni Baby Pahalagahan Para Sa Malusog na Kinabukasan”

The pioneers of the Senior High School Department of San Juan National High School conducted the very first activity for this school year 2016 – 2017 – the national celebration of Nutrition Month. The kickoff activity was the Bulletin Board design of the ABM Section following the theme “First 1000 Days Ni Baby Pahalagahan Para Sa Malusog na Kinabukasan”. All sections’ representatives participated in the Poster Making Design Contest in which three winners from STEM and GAS A sections bagged the top prizes, winners are: 1st Place – David Llaneta, STEM; 2nd Place – John Lander Babalo, GAS A and 3rd Place – Daphne Macinas, GAS A.

Students and faculty members enjoyed and savoured the tasty and nutritious foods sold during the two-week long Food Fair prepared by the Business Club of Ms. Evelyn S. Plaza. Ten percent (10%) of the generated income from the Food Fair was used for the Feeding Program. Ms. Melanie Espejo together with STEM and TVL class, spearheaded the said activity. The beneficiary of the Feeding Program was the Kinder Garten class of Pedro Cruz Elementary School.

All Senior High School students had an opportunity to watch Film Viewing conducted by Mr John Paulo S. Alad.

Students’ innovativeness and creativity in cooking was showcased during the Nutritious Recipe Contest in which the criteria for judging are as follows:

Nutrition Value - 20%

Costing - 15%

Taste - 25%

The Nutrition Month celebration was culminated last 29 July 2016, faculty members headed by the Senior High School Coordinator, Ms. Aileen B. Callorina awarded certificate of Awards and Recognition to the winners and participants after the flag retreat ceremony.

Plaza, ABM Teacher (Bulletin Board Design, Food Fair & Nutritious Recipe Contest), Mr. Marvin de Borja, TVL Teacher (Poster Making Contest & Certificates) together with Ms. Melanie Espejo, STEM Teacher (Feeding Program) and Mr. John Paulo S. Alad, TVL Teacher (Film Viewing).
