Action Research continues to permeate SDO-SJC mindset

The conduct of Action Research continues to be a stalwart priority of OIC-Schools Division Superintendent Dr. Joel T. Torrecampo, CESE as he organized a Division Research Interaction on February 18, 2016 at the Conference Hall from 9:00-5:00PM in the Schools Division Office-San Juan City (SDO-SJC). This is in keeping with the thrust to capacitate the key people in management positions like the supervisors, section chiefs, and education specialists in order to come up with a strategic research proposal as articulated in their Individual Performance Commitment and Review Form (IPCRF) under the Results-based Performance Management System (RPMS).

School Governance and Operations (SGOD) Chief Virgilio A. Santos led the team in coming up with a purposeful session to break down each part of the research in relatable terms enough for the participants to identify a pressing issue or concern that would warrant attention as a research problem. Marieta C. Montoya, Senior Education Program Specialist for Human Resource Development, Planning and Research, facilitated the activity that engaged everyone especially in the workshop proper where opinions and insights were gathered for further analysis. The SGOD Chief made himself available for consultation after the lecture part which enabled most of the participants to have his seal of approval for immediate and appropriate action.

In closing, SDO-San Juan City continues to raise the level of consciousness among its personnel to professionalize one’s conduct of duty based on the principles of Continuous Improvement. When asked about perceptions of research during the brainstorming activity at the onset of the program, a group came up with the following acrostics:

R-esponsible interaction with stakeholders

E-xperimentation with different variables

S-ystematic investigation and gathering of data

E-mphatic response from partners

A-ffirmation of hypotheses

R-ecent issues or concerns that are pressing in the office

C-areful deliberation of identified issues

H-onesty and integrity in one’s conduct of duty

True to its commitment, SDO-SJC leadership finds ways to make things happen as they hurdle the challenges together as one solid family. Listed below is the partial list of the approved Research Topics along with their respective proponents:
