Kabayanan Elementary School Conducts Division Demo-Teaching For K Teachers

Realizing the objective of K-12 curriculum, the Kindergarten program continuously improves the learning techniques and strategies through demonstration teaching. Kabayanan Elementary School (KES) welcomed the Kindergarten teachers of San Juan City led by the innovative principal, Dr. Felicito M. Angeo, and observed the assigned demo-teacher, Ms. Edna A. Dimacyat, using ICT as one of the learning strategies. This took place last February 9, 2016 at Kabayanan Elementary School.

One of the observable activities shown by Ms. Dimacyat was through the small group sessions. These allowed the learners to exercise their multiple intelligences because they were given opportunities to explore. The use of manipulatives and concrete materials made their progress more visible with respect to learning standards.

The teacher used ICT tools in teaching literacy and story-telling associated with localized print visual aids. She also established routines and procedures to help in the mastery of certain habits necessary to achieve a conducive learning environment. These maximized the time contact to ensure a safe, clean, and a motivating classroom for more effective learning management that would make learning more joyful for the pupils and less stressful for teachers.

This is in line with DepEd San Juan’s commitment to RA 8990, EO 349 and EO 685 that speak of one of the major thrusts of the Department, which is to provide quality Kindergarten education services to all five-year-old Filipino children. Looking forward to the 21st Millennium Development Goals, the provision for standard instructional materials starting with the Kindergarten Teachers is deemed necessary. In light of this vision, it is recommended and encouraged that teachers utilize indigenized materials that would enrich integrated activities done through stories, poems, songs, games and the arts. The innovative and creative ideas will greatly enhance the prepared instructional materials resulting in more meaningful and enjoyable learning experiences as manifested by the children of Ms. Dimacyat.
